One of the most hated players in sports last year was Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson. From his late night partying, whining to refs and of course mocking opposing fans there was enough to not like about Mr. Henderson. But there has not been any breaking news about the 6’2″ senior. No drug arrest or anything, why is that? Could it be there is a new Marshall Henderson who will be visiting Kentucky Tuesday night at the Wildcats take on the Rebels?
In an article by ESPN’s Andy Katz, it appears that is what has happened. Read article HERE.
“I knew I didn’t have a leg to stand on at the beginning of the year,” Henderson told Katz. “I knew I needed to change some things. I’m growing more and more. I’m the only senior. We’ve got 10 games left. I’ve got to be the guy after a turnover to say ‘Next play.’ My eyes have been opened up more and more.”
Henderson is averaging 19.2 points and 2.4 assists per game. He is second in the nation with threes , making 4.28 per game. This is a threat that could hurt Kentucky’s young guards. He is also an 81-percent free throw shooter.
He told Katz about playing Kentucky Tuesday,”I’m excited about this, but it won’t be anything different. It’s a big-time place, big-time crowd and big-time team. We’re tied for second place. That’s what this game is about Tuesday.”
So do not expect Henderson to fly of the rails in Rupp Arena, although I am sure Big Blue Nation will do everything they can to get in his head.
