Forward Alex Poythress will be back in a Kentucky jersey next season UK announced Wednesday. The 6’7″ Poythress was not projected on analysts mock drafts and scouts were not sure if he was ready for the NBA. He would have likely been picked in the 2nd round if he did leave.
The Clarksville, TN. native came off the bench last season behind five freshman. He averaged 5.9 points and 4.5 rebounds, he was a big part of Kentucky’s late season run.
“Playing in the NBA has always been a dream of mine, but I want to make sure that I’m NBA-ready before I make that jump,” Poythress said in press release. “By coming back, I’ll be so much closer to earning my degree in business and it will give me another year to prepare my game and my body for the next level.”

Now Kentucky fans will have to wait to see what Dakari Johnson and the Harrison Twins will do. Regardless Kentucky will have a more experienced team than they have had since Calipari has become the head coach.
