Former Kentucky Wildcats wing Archie Goodwin is heading to the NBA’s Development League to play for the Bakersfield Jam. The Phoenix Suns are only planning on Goodwin to be in the D-league for less than a week.
“We feel like it’s crucial for Archie to get experience, to stay sharp. There’s only so much you can do in practice, especially this time of year when we’re not practicing as frequently,” GM Ryan McDonough told Arizona Sports. “Where we are as a team is a little different than where most people expected us to be halfway through the season, so we feel like it’s critical for our future and for Archie’s future to have him keep playing in game action.”
Goodwin was picked 29th by the Suns in last year’s draft. He is averaging 3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game while playing six and a half minutes per game.
