The Louisville football team is still a little over six months away from opening up their inaugural season in the ACC against their new conference foe and cross division rival, Miami Hurricanes, but they are not wasting any time preparing, for what appears to be the most exciting schedule in UofL football history.
Director of Strength and Conditioning, Joe Miday and his assistant, Scott Wilks, have really gotten the team to excel in the weight room and are bringing lots of excitement to what is usually looked at by the players, as grueling and about as fun as a root canal. Many of the guys have been seen around campus and are barely recognizable from just two months ago when they finished up their season with a beat down of those same Hurricanes.
Guys like Deiontrez Mount, Jamon Brown and Jake Smith look much bigger and more muscular, if that was possible, and DeAngelo Brown and Griffin Uhl are turning heads with their strength. Charles Gaines (at the :45 mark) and John Miller (at the 1:27 mark have added considerably more upper body mass as you’ll see in this video.
Those unfamiliar with Miday and Wilks will quickly begin to love the enthusiasm and energy they bring to the program. Miday has got big shoes to fill, replacing Pat Moorer, but he’s off to a great start and it seems that the players love him already. The two of them are known for breaking wooden paddles over each other with baseball swings before games to hype up the team and fans. See them in action here
