Not much going on around the city of Louisville…..
OK, I lied. Charlie Strong this, Charlie Strong that and it seems we may have some developing news.
Coming out via the Twitter world, talking heads are now saying that an announcement naming Charlie Strong the new Texas Longhorn head coach could come Monday.
George Schroeder of the USA Today wrote an article at 6:41pm tonight stating this:
“Texas expects to complete a deal with Charlie Strong to be its new football coach by Sunday, a senior University of Texas official told USA TODAY Sports.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, said Texas is very confident the hire will be completed Sunday. The official announcement would be followed by an introductory news conference on Monday.”
Joe Schad(@SchadJoe) of ESPN also tweeted out what he has been hearing, which includes recruiter Clint Hurtt not following Strong:
If true, Strong would depart Louisville after resurrecting their program. Sugar Bowl victory over Florida last season followed by a Russell Athletic Bowl win over Miami last month.
He would also become the first African-American head coach at Texas, replacing long tenured Mack Brown.
