Former Louisville Cardinals guard Chris Smith was released from his NBA D-League team, the Erie BayHawks, Tuesday, they announced. Smith played in just 23 games this season, averaging 8.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the BayHawks. He was in the D-League since November when the New York Knicks released him.
Smith played in just two regular season games for the Knicks this season for a minute total, he did not have any stats to report. He did play 20 minutes in three pre-season games, scoring a total of three points, three rebounds and two assists.
Rumors say that Smith was having issues with the Bayhawks coaches and he was unhappy with his playing time.
Before Erie released Chris Smith today, he had packed up and left team several days ago, source tells Yahoo. Didn’t like his playing time.
