Former Kentucky Wildcat DeAndre Liggins was named the NBA Development League defensive player of the year Tuesday. Liggins played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 14.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 4.8 assists while playing in 42 games this past season.
Liggins received 17 votes from league coaches to win the award.
The 6’6″ Liggins played one game for the Miami Heat this season while he was on a ten day contract. He played one minute total and scored two points and grabbed one rebound.
