DeAndre Liggins will be playing with LeBron James and the Miami Heat for the next 10-days. The former Kentucky forward has signed a 10-day contract with the Heat Tuesday. Liggins has been playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA’s Development League.
This year for the Skyforce Liggins is averaging 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and almost five assists will playing just over 40 minutes per game. He is eighth on the NBA D-League Prospect Watch List.
Liggins has been trying to work his way back to the NBA after being waved by the Oklahoma City Thunder last September. He did have some off the court issues, but still seems to want to make it back to the league. A lot of the things John Calipari loved about him, like his ability to use his length to guard at any position, is what can make him a really good player in the NBA.
The 6’7 small forward from Chicago was drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2011. After one year with the Magic he went to the Thunder for the 2012-13 season. He has played in 56 total games in the NBA, averaging 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
Miami plays the New York Knicks at home Thursday night.
