It was a tough night in Lexington Thursday as Kentucky fell for the second time this season to Arkansas. It was the Razorback’s first win in Rupp Arena since 1994. It did not sit pretty for some fans as they took to social media bashing the players and the team.
Head coach John Calipari also spoke about his team in the post game and Friday morning on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“That’s what young guys do. Every one of them, ‘My fault, I should have done this. You’re right, but I could have done this.’ You know, ugly.”
“Last night was not what I expected, but it does not change how I feel about this team. I love this team. We have a bunch of good kids who want to do well, but nobody said this was going to be easy. My job is to continue to paint a picture of how they need to play. It’s not so much about what I don’t want them to do; it’s about what I want them to do.”
“There were seven minutes in the second half last night where we played exactly how we needed to play. They didn’t make every shot but they played with the energy, the chemistry and the will to win we are looking for. But it was only seven minutes. We just have to refocus and get back on that positive path.”
One thing is clear, Calipari still believes in this team, but is getting frustrated and that is being seen. Saturday’s game will be one to start another turn around as UK heads to South Carolina for the two teams only match up of the year.
Carolina enters the game absolutely terrible to say the least. Posting a 10-18 record, 3-12 in the SEC. They are not ranked in or near the top 100 in any statistical category. Expect this team to attempt to control the tempo with the game at home.
They are led by three scorers in double-figures. Brenton Williams at 14.7 points, Sindarius Thornwell with 13.5 and Tyrone Johnson 11.2 per game. And of course crazy face head coach Frank Martin who is always fun to watch.
For the Wildcats, they really do need a good performance. This is a USC team that can not match up against UK. I see a dominant paint performance and a much better shooting performance with only 2 three point shots last game.
UK opened up as a 9-point favor and that line will be covered with this team knowing the importance of not losing to USC. Cats 83 Gamecocks 67.
