Kentucky Wildcats Women’s softball kicked their 2014 campaign off last week with a bang. Going 5-0 to start the season for the first time in program history with a win over #2 ranked Oklahoma in the mix.
During this excellent start for top ten ranked Kentucky came a performance by preseason All-SEC Griffin Joiner. She had herself one hell of a week that didn’t go unnoticed as Joiner was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I National Player of the Week.
The NFCA awarded this honor to Joiner yesterday afternoon after she went 10-15, three home runs, two doubles and nine runs batted in. She is only the 4th athlete ever from UK to be named a National player of the week.
