Kind of odd to believe we are already half way finished with the 2013-14 college basketball season. With the second half beginning, we will start to see award watch lists taking shape.
One of those awards Kentucky players have come to basically own since John Calipari took over, the freshman of the week.

Eye On College Basketball has teamed up with the Wayman Tisdale Award so past freshman of the week is now the Wayman Tisdale frosh of the week. And what was the CBS Sports freshman rankings is now the official Wayman Tisdale Award Watch list.

OK, that was slightly confusing but to cut to the chase, Julius Randle ranks second on the Wayman Tisdale Watch list. He was named the Freshman of the week November 12th. Currently averaging a double-double, 18.1 points, 10.6 rebounds in 13 games. Shooting a solid 56.4% from the field, Randle has proven why he’s projected a top pick in this summers NBA draft.

Leading the list is Duke wing Jabari Parker who averages 20.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He has been named the Wayman Tisdale freshman of the week three times so far this season. Rounding out the top five with Tyler Ennis, Andrew Wiggins and Aaron Gordon.

Also worth noting, James Young was honored with the Wayman Tisdale freshman of the week award back on December 31st for his play against rival Louisville. His teammate, Aaron Harrison is shown as one of the “Next in Line” guys to enter the top of the watch list.
