The Kentucky Wildcats are the youngest team in college basketball, Coach John Calipari tell fans that after every game. Saturday against North Carolina on the road showed just how young they are, losing 82-77 . They are still super talented, but continue to make very youthful mistakes.

Not even a technical foul on Calipari late in the first-half could rally the team.

Both UNC and UK made several mistakes and of course the refs kept both teams honest. Kentucky gave up almost 20 turnovers and 28-42 from the line. Andrew Harrison was 10-17 from the stripe.

Freshman sensation Julius Randle had just 11 points and five rebounds, giving up four turnovers. He just seemed frustrated. Maybe it was the fouls being called or the length of the Tar Heels, but he looked frustrated.

Kentucky did out rebound UNC by double-figures, which shows a lot of growth after being dominated on the glass by Baylor.

The offense couldn’t find a rhythm for the Wildcats, having issues find an open man and taking smart shots. This will be a game that Cal will use to mature his team. Losing on the road this early in the season is not a big deal at all. You have to give it to the young players, they played until the end which fans cannot complain about.

Box Score HERE.

Kentucky will play Belmont on the 21st, the same team that upset UNC, 83-80.
