Not a fun game to watch, but Louisville was able to survive and advance to the Sweet 16 after beating the St. Louis Billikens, 66-51 . Luke Hancock led the Cardinals with 21 points, going 4-12 from three.
Louisville will play either Kentucky or Wichita State in Indianapolis. Rick Pitino is undefeated as a coach in the Final Four.
The Cardinals allowed St. Louis to score just 16 points in the first-half, but the Billikens went on a spurt after the half and took the lead. Louisville pressure finally got to St. Louis and Louisville was able to make a big late spurt.
Montrezl Harrell was covered very well by the Billikens, but he still ended up with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Russ Smith and Chris Jones both had 11 points. Smith had seven assists, but also had seven turnovers. Russ Smith hurt his thumb in Thursday’s game against Manhattan, he also hurt his knee a little bit. Smith took off his thumb wrap a little over half way through the second-half. He seemed much more comfortable with it off.
Russ Smith just tore that tape off his thumb. Hopefully that will get him right

Wayne Blackshear only score six points, but he played really tough defensively. That is two games in a row that he has come off the bench and played solid.
Lots to improve on if the Cards want to move on, but they have plenty of time to heal up and get regrouped.
