98 times, that is how many times the Louisville Cardinals have played the Cincinnati Bearcats. Louisville leads the all-time series 55-43, but is 21-24 in Cincinnati. There has been more important games, but this 99th battle in the rivalry could rank up there at the top in importance when all is said in done.

Tipoff Saturday will be at 12pm EST on CBS. It will be on 790AM-WKRD in Louisville, KY. and 700 WLW-AM in Cincinnati.

Louisville lost to Cincinnati 69-66 last month, the Bearcats senior Sean Kilpatrick led the way with 28 points, making 11-11 from the free throw line.

“It’s going to be much harder to win this time,” Mick Cronin said via Cincinnati.com. “My belief is that we probably surprised their players a little bit with the kind of team that we have and what we’re capable of and we’re not going to catch them off guard this time.”

Both teams are playing their best basketball. Louisville has won the last five straight since losing to Cincinnati, with a margin of victory of 24. No.7 Cincinnati have also been dominate, other than their only conference loss to SMU earlier this month on the road, 76-55.

Louisville has yet to beat a ranked opponent and NCAA bracket predictors are skeptical. This is a huge game for the Cards. They do have some tough games ahead, but a win on the road against a top 10 opponent could be the difference between a three seed to a six to seven seed in the tournament.

Rebounds will be the key to this game, whoever wins the battle of the boards will win the game. Louisville can ill afford to let the Bearcats rack up the offensive boards.
