The Louisville Cardinals came into their first AAC game against UCF with a lot of story lines, some had to do with on the court. The No.14 Cardinals were able to overcome any distractions with great outside shooting, winning90-65 .

It was their first game without PF Chane Behanan, if you don’t know what happened then you have been under a rock. The Cards were out rebounded 43-36. Van Treese had six boards, Harrell led the Cards with eight rebounds.

Russ Smith led the Cards in scoring with 24 points. He also had nine assists and four steals. He was 6 of 10 from behind the arc.

Louisville made 14 of their 27 threes. Hancock seems to be out of his little slump, going 4/9 from three with 16 points.

Being the first game after Louisville’s loss to Kentucky, you have to be happy with the intensity Louisville brought. There is still some issues, especially without a solid PF backup. If Hancock can continue to shoot well and Van Treese and Mangok can stay solid underneath, there is no reason why Louisville can’t do well the rest of the season.

Louisville will stay on the road, playing Rutgers Saturday at 6pm.
