According to MaxPreps.com, the 6’2″, 247 Smith recorded 126 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries for Granite Bay High School in California.
Smith is a prototype middle linebacker who kills the run game, is smart enough to make every defensive call and has off the chart leadership skills. He had almost 200 tackles as a sophomore and is arguably the most instinctive player in the region. At 6-2, 250 pounds, he’s an absolute load but moves around very well for his size. He’ll need to improve his overall foot speed and make sure his weight doesn’t get too high but he’s a player.
