The Louisville Cardinals will take on the Manhattan Jaspers in the second-round of the NCAA Tournament. It is a game that has several story lines that will make it an entertaining game, even though it should be very lopsided.

The Cardinals probably deserved a higher seed than a four, which several analyst and fans have made very clear. Louisville will come into the game with a bit of a chip on their shoulder, which meshes well with their dominating play as of late.

The Jaspers have won 11 of their last 12 games including winning the MAAC Championship against a very good Iona team, 71-68. This is the 7th time Manhattan has made it to the Big Dance, the last time they made it to the tournament was in 2004.

Story linessteve masiello Louisville vs. Manhattan Preview, Predictions and Odds

1. Manhattan coach Steve Masiello was Rick Pitino’s assistant at Louisville for more than six years. He also played at Kentucky as a walk-on, Pitino was his coach his freshman year.

2. Russ Smith almost transferred to Manhattan after his freshman year, in fact his bag were packed. Luckily for Louisville he decided to stay, this would be a very different game if he had left.

Predictions
Steve Masiello runs the same schemes at Manhattan as PItino does at Louisville, Pitino just has better players doing it. It is hard to guard Russ Smith with the same defense as he sees every day in practice.
This will be a game that Pitino will not run up the score, he does not usually try to make his former assistance look bad when he goes against them. He is also very fond of Masiello.
Luke Hancock will look to get his shot going in the tournament, so expect him to launch several threes. He will make four of them and lead the Cards in scoring with 18.
Montrezl Harrell will make some monster dunks and then do what he can to stay healthy, with his motor it is hard for Pitino to tell him to slow down so he will see the bench more than he usually does.
Steven Van Treese will lead the Cardinals in rebounds with 12.
Chris Jones will lead Louisville in steals and assists with four steals and 10 assists.
Louisville will win 84-65.
