Bobby Petrino has been busy in his first day in his new/old football office. The new Louisville coach dealt with players decommitting like 4-star DL Poona Ford, trying to find a defensive coordinator after Kevin Steele turned down his offer and he also picked up a Penn State transfer in QB Tyler Ferguson.
The 6’4″, 215 lbs. quarterback from Bakersfield, Cal. was planning on going to WKU, but Petrino called him as soon as he was hired by Louisville.
“Petrino was the first to reach out to me when I got my release from Penn State,” Ferguson said. “He said if he got the Louisville job, he still wanted to get me.”
He was played one year at the College of the Sequoias in 2012 and came to Penn St. as a 4-star JUCO prospect. He has two years of eligibility and will be available after he sits out the 2014 season. He threw for over 2,600 yards and 22 touchdowns as a JUCO QB.
Ferguson completed 10 of his 15 passes season with Penn State, with 155 yards and one touchdown as he played in four games.
