The Chane Behanan issues are over for coach Rick Pitino. The Louisville Cardinals head coach announced in a press conference Monday afternoon that junior power forward is no longer on the team. He did not give a reason why.
Behanan was suspended from the team in October for breaking University rules. Behanan had off the court issues throughout his Louisville career.
In a interview with CBS Saturday, Pitino talked about why he has given player’s like Behanan chances. He told Greg Anthony that his own off the court issues has shown him the need to give his players more chances.
Chane was averaging 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game so far this season.
Pitino also mentioned that guard Kevin Ware will likely redshirt. The 6’3″ guard has been dealing with his leg injury that he suffered in last year’s Elite Eight game against Duke.
Rick Pitino on Kevin Ware: “I think Kevin may be shut down for the year, but I wouldn’t say that 100 percent.”

These announcements came after a rough loss to Kentucky on Saturday in Lexington where Louisville was severaly outrebound and manhandled by the Wildcats big men. It will be interesting to see what Pitino does with his lineup now as they start conference play Tuesday against UCF on the road.
