Report: UAB Head Coach Garrick McGee to Become Louisville OC

Joe Schad of ESPN is reporting that  UAB Head Coach Garrick McGee will become Louisville’s new Offensive Coordinator.  His tweet can be seen below:

McGee will replace Shawn Watson, who has been the OC for the Cardinals since 2011.  Tom Jurich made the transition of Watson to Texas official during a press conference this morning introducing new head coach Bobby Petrino.
McGee had an overall record of 5-19 while head coach of UAB.  The decision to leave UAB was almost assured after finishing a disappointing season by going 2-10 in 2013.

McGee coached under Bobby Petrino in Arkansas as his OC/QB’s coach from 2008-2011.  This is a significant pickup for new head coach bobby Petrino, and one that demonstrates Petrino’s known high-powered offensive strategy.
