Masiello frontrunner For USF Job?

According to the Tampa Bay Times Steve Masiello is believed to be a candidate for the Head Coaching Vacancy at the University of South Florida.  Stan Heath was fired on March 14th and one of the financial supporters of the USF athletic program is Chris Sullivan, the co-founder of Outback Steakhouse who also happens to be a UK graduate.

On March 11th Mark Harlan was hired as the new athletic director and was scheduled to begin work on April 7th, but his start date was moved up to Monday 3/24 in what is believed to be a move related to the Basketball coaching search.  The hiring process is expected to move quickly.

Masiello, a White Plains, NY native originally met Rick Pitino while a ball boy for the New York Knicks and later managed to secure a position as a walk on at the University of Kentucky.  Upon graduation from UK he made stops as an assistant at Tulane, Manhattan and the University of Louisville before accepting the Head Coaching position with Manhattan three seasons ago.

During his three seasons at Manhattan Masiello recorded a 60-39 record and in 2014 they won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship before being eliminated in the round of 64 by the Louisville Cardinals.
