Terrence Williams has played everywhere since being drafted in the first-round of the 2009 draft by New Jersey, including time with the LA Lakers, Boston Celtics and even some time in China. He is now playing in the NBA’s Development League and is really playing good basketball. He even scored 50-points in a game last week.
He was also named the D-league’s player of the month for January.
According to the Development League’s website, Williams is second on the prospect watch list–a list that predicts which players will make the move up to the NBA soon.
The former Louisville Cardinals small forward is averaging almost 22 points, 5 rebounds and almost six assists per game. Now I know that the D-league is not known for its defense, but he is really doing some impressive things.
He scored 27 points in just over 29 minutes in Wednesday nights win over the Bakersfield Jam. He also added 8 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds.
There is plenty of NBA teams who needs someone who can give them points, especially someone with experience. Williams did have some off the court issues, that may or may not scare teams away. The fact is he doesn’t have to play in the D-league, there are many players who go overseas and make enough money to play basketball. He seems to want to make it back and is putting in a lot of effort to do it.
Hopefully teams are taking notice.
